My theme is memory

I was checking a fact in a Joni Mitchell discography yesterday and spotted a listing of "The Priest," from her 1970 album Ladies of the Canyon. I quickly realized two things: that I probably hadn't heard or thought about the song for at least twenty-five years, and that I still remembered all of the lyrics, almost verbatim, and in the right order.

And then of course I realized a third thing: that I have no idea whatsoever how the brain or mind is able to do that.
